INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPUTIC COUNSELLING
Integrated~combining or co-ordinating separate elements so as to provide a harmonious, inter-related whole.
What is Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling?
Life can sometimes leave us feeling lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected — from ourselves, from others, and from the sense of who we truly are.
Psychotherapeutic integrative counselling offers a compassionate, personalised space to explore those feelings, make sense of your experiences, and gently find your way back to yourself.
Unlike a single-method approach, integrative therapy draws on a rich weave of therapeutic traditions, tailoring the work to you — your story, your body, your needs, and your pace. No two people are the same, and no single path fits every traveller.
A Whole Person Approach
At the heart of this work is the understanding that we are not only thinking beings — we feel, we sense, we carry our histories in our bodies as much as in our minds. This blend of Integrative psychotherapeutic counselling is based upon several powerful and complementary approaches:
Person-Centred Therapy
Rooted in the deep belief that you are the expert on your own life. Person-centred therapy offers unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine human connection — a space where you are met without judgement, fully accepted as you are, and trusted to know what you need. The relationship between therapist and client is not directive but collaborative, warm, and built entirely around you.
Mindfulness Process-Oriented Therapy
Learning to meet the present moment with curiosity and compassion, rather than judgement or avoidance. Mindfulness helps us slow down, notice what is happening within us, and create space between our experiences and our reactions — gently building a kinder, more grounded relationship with ourselves.
Body Based Therapy
Recognising that the body holds our stories, our stress, and our unprocessed pain. Body awareness work gently brings awareness to physical sensations, helping to release what has been held in the nervous system and restore a felt sense of safety, presence, and groundedness.
Gestalt Therapy & Parts Work
Focusing on the here and now — on awareness, contact, and authentic self-expression. Gestalt invites you to explore not just what you think and feel, but how you experience yourself in relationship with others, with the world, and with the different parts of yourself. It is about becoming more fully, authentically you.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Exploring how our past shapes our present. Psychodynamic work gently brings unconscious patterns, early relational experiences, and long-held beliefs into awareness — helping us understand why we feel, think, and relate the way we do. By making sense of where we have come from, we create genuine freedom to choose something different going forward.
Ecotherapy
Recognising the profound, often overlooked connection between our inner world and the natural world around us. Ecotherapy draws on nature as a therapeutic presence — whether through mindful awareness of the natural environment, outdoor sessions (Coming Soon), or simply reawakening a sense of belonging to something larger than ourselves. For many people, nature offers a unique quality of stillness, perspective, and gentle restoration that deepens the healing process in ways that words alone cannot always reach.
Together, these six approaches create a therapeutic experience that is responsive, embodied, relational, and deeply human — one that honours the full complexity of who you are and what you carry.
Trauma-Informed at its Core
This work is rooted in a deep understanding of how trauma — whether a single defining event or a lifetime of accumulated experience — shapes the way we feel, relate, and move through the world. Sessions are always paced with care, working within what feels safe and manageable, and honouring the courage it takes to show up and be honest about what you carry.
You will never be pushed further than you are ready to go. Healing is not about reliving pain — it is about being gently and compassionately accompanied through it, so that it gradually loses its hold on your present and your future.
Your Story. Your Way.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma, low self-worth, life transitions, or simply a quiet but persistent feeling that something is not quite right — this is a space where your story matters, where you will be truly heard, and where, together, we can help you find your way.
Initial Consultation
Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task. It’s important that you find someone who you feel comfortable with.
I offer a free initial online session lasting around 30 minutes to discuss what brings you to therapy and to see whether I am the right therapist for you. This is also an opportunity for me to tell you more about how I work and to answer any questions you may have.
If we decide to work together, sessions are 50 mins and take place weekly at the same time. I ask you to commit to an initial six sessions. At the end of this period, we will review our work so far and discuss whether you would like me to support you further. If we decide to continue, the process will carry on for as long as needed.
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
— Anaïs Nin, writer and diarist
* The approaches described above reflect the therapeutic lenses I draw from as part of my integrative practice, and areas of genuine interest and ongoing learning. My formal training — an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Therapy and an MA in Clinical Psychology — is integrative in nature, equipping me to weave these approaches together thoughtfully and ethically. I am committed to working within my competence at all times, in full accordance with BACP guidelines.
"This is going to be one easy testimonial to write as I truly love Jacki and I am so thankful to her. I have been working with Jacki for the last few months, and she has enabled me to shift past my fears and lift me up to be the health coach that I wanted to be. Jacki’s sessions have all been positive experiences for me, and I always look forward to connecting with her each week. She is gifted in making you feel relaxed and secure in each session. Even though we were online, she is so skilled that the process flowed easily, even though we were 200 miles apart. I would recommend Jacki to anyone who wants to create a shift in their life."
